For your information, I have been developing custom software for clients since 1971, and worked full-time as a computer consultant from 1987 to 2001. In 2001, I moved from Jasper to Edmonton to work full-time as a Technical Webmaster for the Government of Alberta. In early 2010, I retired from full-time work. My consulting services are still in high demand, however, I am restricting my work now to website design and hosting. Please note that I am not a computer retailer, nor do I repair computers. Web Site Development Thinking about a web site for your business? At the end of 2000, there were almost 361-million Internet users. By early 2010, there were just under 2-billion Internet users. (Numbers from Internet World Stats.) If your business can cater to the needs of even a small percentage of today's Internet users, then your future is waiting for you. How much does a web site cost? Well, if you go somewhere else you could get one for free or you could spend up to several million dollars. Would you get what you paid for? Well, in the first case, you sure would! In the second case, you better hope so! For my custom development, expect to pay from $50 per page for a really simple design up to about $500 per page for a more complex design. Are you a stock photographer? Would you like a simple site with an online digital image database suitable for use by prospective photobuyers? Get up and running within about 5 days, for only $500. Professional Fees Most of my clients retain my services under a service contract, while a few others simply call me when they need me. The fee for my professional services, without a service contract, is $60.00 Can. per hour. Billing is per 15-minute intervals. If the job is less than four hours, I charge for travel time (if travel is required.) All expenses are billed to the client at cost plus ten percent. If you have a service contract, that contract provides details of your coverage and costs. |
