Harman Atwood Herman, Boston 1642, son of John, came from Sanderstead, County Surrey, about 15 miles from London, in employment of Thomas Buttolph. On 11 Aug 1646 he married Ann, daughter of William Copp. e-mail notes from: R. Bradley Potts (1996) Harman was a freeman in 1645, and a member of the 'Ye Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.' He was a brother to the Plymouth and Cape Cod Atwoods and cousin to Philip of Malden, MA. Both Harman and his wife Ann are buried in Copp's Hill Cemetery (named after Ann's family) in Boston, which is still accessible in Boston's North End. |
John Atwood (1647) John, Boston, son of Herman, artillery company 1673, was its lieutenant 1695, and deacon of the second church. |
John Atwood (1694) John was a shipbuilder, trader and money lender and brought his family to Haverhill then Bradford, MA. |
Benjamin Atwood Benjamin was probably born before 1740, but I can't find a birth record. He was baptized in Bradford, MA in 1740. He was reportedly in the Revolutionary War, but I do not know if that was his cause of death. |
Simeon Atwood (1768) Simeon lived in Bradford, MA and had three children. |
Simeon Atwood (1797) Simeon was a grocer in the town of Bradford, MA. His death record states he died of 'Gravel.' Not sure what that was or meant. He had eight children. |
Bradley Atwood Bradley was a cordwainer and shoemaker, and had six children by his first wife, Sarah Ann Stacey. |
Walter was my grandfather, who I still remember after all these years. He was very proud of his line, and I have inherited many letters and stories that he wrote about his relatives and their history. It will take me a long, long time to put them all online, so check back often if you like this sort of thing. |
